At a workshop dinner the CEO of a company we work with made derogative comments about a female member of his team, who was my main contact with the company. A colleague who was also present and myself both felt we couldn’t intervene at that point as it would likely make things worse for her, but we made sure to praise her work and attempted to change the subject when the CEO made another poor joke. The training helped me understand better what the options were in a very uncomfortable situation.”
